The below-deck box everything else runs on. Marine-certified, conformally coated, fanless where it can be, and specified so that a vessel's perception load does not depend on a satellite link that will not be there.
The problem
What this exists to solve.
Marine perception cannot be a cloud workload. Bandwidth over the Indian Ocean is expensive, intermittent and — for naval users — often deliberately unavailable. Anything safety-relevant has to be decided on the hull. That means industrial compute that survives salt fog, vibration, 24 V bus transients and a bridge deck at 55 °C.
Our approach
How SETU-EDGE handles it.
SETU-EDGE is built around the assumption that the link is down. Models run locally, results are logged locally, and synchronisation to shore is opportunistic. The enclosure is sealed and conformally coated, the power input tolerates the transients a ship's bus actually produces, and the ingest path is sized for twelve simultaneous camera channels without frame drop.
Capability
What it does well.
Assumes no link
Every safety-relevant decision is made on the hull. Shore sync is a convenience, never a dependency.
Twelve channels without drop
Ingest is hardware-decoded and sized for a full DRISHTI-360 ring plus auxiliary feeds.
Signed models only
The node refuses unsigned model artefacts, so what is running is what was accepted at trials.
Serviceable at sea
Field-replaceable storage and a documented spares kit — no dockside-only maintenance.
Specification
Technical data.
Figures are typical values at nominal conditions. Acceptance criteria are agreed per programme and verified at trials — we do not quote a number we will not demonstrate.
